Taylor Gates, 79 a resident of
Manorcare Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, formerly
of 8445 Fox Hill Road, Waynesboro
Pa., died Thursday, April 17, 2003
at the nursing home. Born Nov 21,
1923, in Fox Hill, Pa, he was the
son of the late George W. and Mary
A. Tarman Gates. He attended Fox
Hill School. He was employed
by D. M. Wertz Orchards and then
M. E. Knouse Orchards for more
than 50 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Eagles Club
Inc. in Waynesoboro, the William
Grove Steam Engine Association
and Franklin County Sheriff's
Association. He is survived by
three sisters Ardella Moats and
Loretta McFerren, both of
Waynesboro and Molly Harbaugh
of Lantz, Md. two brothers, Leonard
W. Gates and Stanley E. Gates both
of Waynesboro and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two
sisters May Powell and Luvella J.
Freeman and a brother George G. Gates.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
at Grove-Bowesox Funeral Home,
Waynesoboro. Lay Minister Charles
Bowman will officiate. Burial will
be in Mount Zion Cemetary,
near Quincy, Pa. The family will
receive friends Monday from 7 to
9 p.m. at the funeral home.
