Bernice graduated from the Englewood High School in 1960. After High School she joined the US Army Women’s Air Corp serving 1960 – 1961, she worked in the security unit.
She married Paul Lee Ross on December 18, 1960 in Schwetzingen, Germany. To this union four children were born, William, Daniel, Anne and John. Bernice worked as a social worker/activity director at Nursing Homes in Wheatridge and Brighton, Colorado and also as an electronics assembler for Atmospheric Instrumentation Research in LaFayette, Colorado.
Bernice loved to sew and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She wanted to be an inspiration and role model to them.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Cruickshank. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Paul Ross of Yuma, Colorado; brother, Claude Cruickshank of Loveland, her four children, William Ross and Daniel Ross of Yuma, Colorado; Anne Rose and John Ross of Murphysboro, Illinois; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The Rosary was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday May 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Yuma, Colorado with Father Jonathan Dellinger officiating. There will be an inurnment at Fort Logan cemetery in Denver, Colorado held at a later date.
