"Lynchurg Adams, was born near Lynchburg, Virginia, February 22, 1804, and received his name from the town in the vicinity of which he was born. A few years later the family moved to Kentucky, and in the year 1819 from Kentucky to Missouri. The fall of 1819 and the succeeding winter they spent in the vicinity of Boone's Salt Works near Cooper's Fort across from what is now Boonville, Missouri. ln the spring of 1820 they moved up the Missouri River, crossing at Arrow Rock. On March 3, 1820, they camped at the foot of the hill just east of Fire Prairie Creek, and just over what is now the east line of Jackson County, Missouri. The family made a settlement near Fort Osage . . ." (Arthur Adams, grandson of Lynchburg Adams)
