Mrs. Bernice Smith Alexander, 91, of Newport, formerly of Corning was the daughter of I.O. Arnold and Lucy Lionberger. She was a homemaker and member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ. She enjoyed making draperies and curtains.

Bernice and "Scatter" Smith and daughter, Betty Sue, resided in Corning before moving to the Newport area several years ago. He worked as a station agent for Missouri-Pacific Railroad here. She was an aunt to Jimmy and Freddie Arnold, Chloe and Larry Masterson, Corning.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, April 14, in Jackson's Newport Funeral Home with Erman Croney officiating. Singers were Holden Avenue Singers.
