Charles T. "Sam" Strange, 86, of Athens, Pa., passed away on Nov. 14, 2016. He was born on Feb. 6, 1930, the son of the late Charles Strange and Myrtle Strange Champion. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from July 1949 until December 1952 and was a member of the First Army Band of New York City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his sons, Larry, Garry and Kevin Strange; his brother, Raymond Strange; and niece, Mistie Bainer.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Sylvia (Hank) Bainer of California, Anna Marie Strange of Waverly, N.Y., John (Barbara) Strange of Sayre, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Ellen Strange of Waverly, N.Y., and Debbie Redman of Newfield, N.Y., grandson, Josh of Washington; granddaughter, Monica of California; a niece, several nephews and great-grandchildren.

At Sam's request, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Tioga Point Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a donation in his memory may do so to the charity of one's choice , or to Guthrie Hospice. Caring services are provided by Cooley Tioga Point Cremation & Burial Options, Athens Pa.
