Betty Jo Butow went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at a local hospice facility. Betty was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia on October 19, 1946 to the late Paul and Marie Wade. A former schoolmate of Priscilla Presley while stationed in Germany, Betty has lived in Panama City since 1968 after extensive travels with her military family. Betty was a preschool teacher at St. Andrews Baptist Church for over 30 years and a member of Central Pentecostal Church where she regularly attended. She could often times be found behind home plate supporting the Southport Cubs T-Ball team offering pep talks to each child as they came up to bat. A collector of many things, Betty loved and cherished her grandchildren and pets dearly. Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Daniel Butow of Panama City; son JD Newton (Theresa), daughter Dana AuBuchon (Charles), sister Paula Nixon (Chuck), grandchildren Justin AuBuchon and Aubree Rose AuBuchon, all of Panama City; special cousin who was like a brother to her, Don Ward of Clinton, TN; as well as extended friends and family. Betty's family would like to give a special thank you to Covenant Hospice, Dr. Michael Slavens and staff. To her coworkers at St. Andrews Baptist Child Development Center, thank you for your years of friendship. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shoots officiating. There will be a gathering of friends one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice or Bay County Humane Society in Ms. Butow's honor.
