Treasured mother of Maureen (Frank) Foster, Kathleen (Michael) Hughes, Eileen (James) Byrne, Margie (John) Griffen, Michael (Anne) Downs, Sheila (Richard) Hayes and Dennis (Michelle) Downs. Cherished "Nanie" of 23 grandchildren and "Nana Kate" of 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her 10 sibling: Thomas (Mary) Bell, Hugh Bell, Annie (Jimmy) McArdle, James (Dorothy) Bell, Susan Bell, Samuel (Sis) Bell, John (Eileen) Bell, Joseph (Jane) Bell, Eileen Wilson and Dennis Bell. Much loved sister-in-law of Raymond (the late Kay) Downs, Julie (the late Thomas), the late Joseph (Adelaide) Downs and Mabel (Thomas) Nolan. Kate leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Wednesday 4-9 p.m and Thursday 9:30 a.m. until Mass of the Resurrection 10:00 a.m. at St. Beded the Venerable Church, 8300 South Kostner, Chicago. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Our mother touched so many lives. She was the source of dignity, morality, faith, love, and family values for us, and we miss her already. She truly was our "Star of the County Down".
