In 1880 she and her parents and eight siblings lived on a farm in Lancaster Township, Butler County, PA.

In 1900 she lived with her future husband and his mother in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 1412 Rebecca (now Reedsdale) Street in Allegheny (now Pittsburgh), PA. She worked as their servant. Jacob still worked as a hammer man. They married after his mother died.

In 1910 she and her husband and their son lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, on Mercer Road (probably U.S. Route 19 now) in Lancaster Township, Butler County, PA. He worked as a heater in a steel works.

In 1920 the three of them lived in a house they were renting at 801 Crescent Avenue in Ellwood City, PA. Jacob worked as a laborer at a forge works. They had two roomers living with them.

In 1930 she and Jacob lived in the same house, which they owned. Their home was valued at $6000, and they did not have a radio. He worked as a machinist at a steel car forge.

In 1940 she, her sister Cary, and a 68-year-old servant, Sarah Ulriach, lived there in the same house. They home was still valued at $6000. Cary (must have been short for Caroline) gave her age as 50, but she was really about 66. In 1939 she and Mary paid Sarah $312 for 52 weeks of work.
