Jean and Adelaide left Rochefort on the La Savoie and arrived at New York and then settled at Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Here he made his livelihood as a carpenter and contractor. Two sons, Edward Georges Basly (1908-1995) m. Matilda Webb (1906-1992) and Raymond Basly (1913-1988) m. Thelma Pittmann (1912-1989), were born at Ocean Springs.
