John Dykes, 69 year old Buffalo man, passed away Saturday morning at the Sheridan VA Medical Center.

John Wayne Dykes was born on November 20, 1945 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Rolla and Hazel Dykes. He grew up and received his education in Clearmont, Wyoming, and graduated from Clearmont High School with the class of 1964. After high school John joined the Army, serving from 1965-1968. He was married to Mary Trujillo on October 14, 1973 in Sheridan, Wyoming, and they made their home in various places around Wyoming, as John worked in oil fields. In 1991, they settled in Buffalo, where he went to work on various ranches in the area. He retired in 2013 and lived in Buffalo until the time of his death.

John enjoyed gardening and yard work; he took great pride in his yard. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Buffalo; two sons: Chester Burton of Sheridan, and Robert Burton of Buffalo; two daughters: Juanita Simmons of Buffalo, and Rita Palmer of Sheridan; one brother, Gene Dykes of Buffalo; two sisters: Clara Brown of Sheridan, and Ann Arcoren of Buffalo; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rolla and Hazel Dykes, as well as three sisters and one brother.
