She was a preschool Sunday School teacher at Grace Baptist Church for over fifty years, and loved volunteering at her church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1114, Local Sheet Metals and Retirees Club, and of the Evergreen's Club at Grace Baptist. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, quilting, fishing and crocheting, and taught piano lessons and sang in the church choir. Bertha lived her life as a Christian. Her greatest joy in life was being around people and teaching them about God and her grandchildren.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Allen K. Young; and brother, Reverend Donald Minster.
She is survived by her children,
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 22, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
