Bobby George Sr., 62, of Hinesville departed this life on May 16, 2015, at Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1952, in Ludowici to Sam George Jr. and Lizzie George-Richardson. The family moved to Hinesville when he was a young boy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sam George Jr., and three siblings, Oliver George, Cynthia George-Spencer, and Herbert Lewis.

At an early age Bobby was baptized and became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was educated in the Liberty County School System. He had been employed at Liberty Memorial Hospital (now Liberty Regional Medical Center) in Hinesville, later on Fort Stewart and later became at Cherokee Rose Country Club, where he worked for 20 years until he retired.

Bobby enjoyed the outdoors and working on cars. He played high school basketball at Bradwell Institute and was called ""BG"" by his teammates. He jokingly referred to himself as ""Master G.""

In 1980, he was joined in holy matrimony with Glenda Wells. One child was born to this union. Later he married Gloria Williams, who preceded him in death.

Bobby leaves to cherish his memory a faithful and loving mother, Lizzie George-Richardson; three sons, Bobby (Tordra) George Jr. of Hinesville, Demetris Grant of Brunswick and Eric Wells of Walthourville; one daughter, Katherine Pryor Phillips of Wichita, Kansas; three stepdaughters, Minnie Monroe, Tiana Towns and Veronica Towns; three brothers, Albert George, of Allenhurst, Lonnie Harold (Elaine) Lewis and Nathaniel (Shirley) George of Hinesville; four sisters, Gwinnell Davison, LaRose Slade, Diane Thomas and Clara Rowsey-Stewart; one brother-in-law, Arthur Stewart, all of Hinesville; three aunts, Mertice Bacon, Mamie Lewis and Lizzie Mae Lewis; one uncle, Chance Grant, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Mt. Zion Memorial Church, 146 Ralph Quarterman Dr., Hinesville.

Interment will be in Macedonia MBC Cemetery in Ludowici.
