Joel David “J.D.” Hall, Sr., age 64 of Troutville and formerly of Rocky Mount died Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brady and Mildred (Polly) Hall; and sister, Margie H. Gann. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jo Hall; daughters and sons-in-law, Tara H. McGrady and husband Allen, Kimberly Durr and husband Andrew; son, Joel D. Hall, Jr. and wife Kari; grandchildren J.T. Loyd, Jessica Loyd, Mallory Hall, Karli Hall, Evan McGrady, Mason McGrady, Cydney Durr, Seth Durr; sister, Sandra H. Layman and husband Ben; brother-in-law, Joe Gann; beloved pets, Little Boss and Bibi. A special thank you to staff and management of Franklin Health and Rehabilitation Center and Carilion Hospice. We wish to extend a sincere thank you to the many friends and relatives who have supported J.D. and his family during his extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren on Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren.
