Gilmore, Md, May 25
As I have seen no account of the sad fate of James Beeman, I will note here that he met his death last Sunday morning about three at Gilmore, on the C. & P. railroad. It appears he tried to board No. 25 engine going south with six loads and Lee Goodrich at the throttle, engine going down backwards. He grabbed the tender, missed his footing, was run over and cut up in a horrible condition. The funeral took place on Monday, interment in old Coney cemetery.
