WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Carolyn Summey Bowers, 76, of West Columbia will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The Reverend Dr. Carol Bird will officiate. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bowers, widow of the late Clarence M. Bowers, Sr., died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Ray Summey and Frances Naomi Shull Summey. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She had retired as a bookkeeper from J.A. Free, Jr. Company, Inc.
Surviving are her daughter, Joy L. Horton, and husband, Glen, of Cayce; son, Clarence M. Bowers, Jr., and wife, Dana, of West Columbia; grandchildren, Cody D. Grant, Tony Horton, Lester H. "Trey" Liles, Jami R. Liles, Ashley D. Bowers, Rachel "Niki" Nicole Bowers, Savanna L. Logan, and McKenna Ryer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years; and a brother, James R. Summey.
