Dorothy "Dolly" Louise (Ruhmel), Eckert, 88, of East Allentown, PA, passed away on May 15, 2015 at Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, where she received excellent care and unconditional love for the last nine months. A lifelong resident of East Allentown, she was the wife of Carl T. Eckert, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage prior to his death in 2006. Dolly was the daughter of the late George A. Ruhmel, II and Dorothy E. (Hoch) Ruhmel, the niece of Louise C. (Ruhmel) Unangst, and granddaughter of Cora A. (Arner) Ruhmel.

Dolly was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hanover Ave., Allentown. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed many of the traditional Christian Church Hymns. Dolly was an honor student and graduate of Allentown High School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She distinguished herself and received numerous awards as a sales representative for Avon Beauty Products during a 46 year career. She enjoyed weekend excursions to various flea markets and antique collector shows, becoming very knowledgeable in antique glassware. She was very proud of and enjoyed showing her vast collection of Royal Bayreuth, Carnival and White Milk Glass, and an array of unique Santa Claus figures.

Dolly became an avid supporter of Dieruff High School Athletics and enjoyed attending many sporting events, especially "Huskie" basketball games with many of her friends, especially her husband, Carl. They were also diehard Phillies, Eagles and Sixers fans, spending many hours cheering and booing them. Upon Carl's retirement, they both dedicated their lives to their family and cherished watching all of their grandchildren's events, especially sports, often traveling hours to do so. In recent years, Dolly looked forward to visits from her great-granddaughter, Ella Rachael, and continued to follow the Phillies until her final days.

Survivors: Dolly is survived by her loving daughters, Carla S. Arbogast of Allentown, Sharon N. Waelchli, wife of Danny, of Orefield; grandchildren, Ryan D.
