Larry Dean Holcomb was born on June 21, 1937 in Branson, Missouri. He was the son of Norton Lee Holcomb and Florence Lucille (Yates) Holcomb. Larry grew up in Branson and graduated from Branson High School in 1954. He then entered the United States Navy where he served as a photographer, taking still pictures, working in the camera shop and was an aerial camera man. He served on a naval carrier in the China Sea during Vietnam and the remainder of his service was in the states, mostly Georgia. He retired after 20 years of service and served on the Fleet Reserve. After his military retirement, Larry worked with a refrigeration and air conditioning company in Georgia.

Larry married Cleta Jane Fisher on October 5, 1957 in Corinth, MS. They were blessed with two daughters. Larry & Cleta moved back to this area 15 years ago.

Larry entered into rest on Tuesday, May 12 at his home in Kirbyville at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Bill, John, Roy, Walter, Robert and Ralph Holcomb and one sister, Frances Underwood.
He is survived by his wife, Cleta Fisher; daughters, Carla Gibson and husband Nubin “Gibby” of Brunswick, GA and Donna Holcomb of Houston, TX; one sister, Shirley Phillips of Ohio; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home. Burial will be in Brittain Cemetery, Kirbyville at a later date.
