David Nickolai Runnheim, 77, died in the Aspirus Pleasant view Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice on Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born in Hawkins, Wisconsin, on December 13, 1937, the son of Nickolai and Katherine (Plaza) Runnheim. He was married to Nancy Ellis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 6, 1967. He was employed in Prentice as a welder by Omark Industries which later became Blount Inc. until the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Chequamegon Club of Prentice. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, taxidermy, wood carving, painting, watching and feeding wildlife.
He is survived by four daughters, Theresa “Terri” (Steve) Morgan, Ladysmith, Linda (Anthony) Barr, Richlands, North Carolina, Lauri Wunsch, Trempealeau, WI, and Joan (Peter) Huettl, Phillips; by 15 grandchildren; by five brothers, Norman (Kathy) Runnheim, Kennan, Nick (Pat) Runnheim, Catawba, Ronald (Florence “Toots”) Runnheim, Kennan, Brian Runnheim, Hinton, West Virginia, and Wayne (Harriet), Stacey, MN; and by five sisters, Janet (Melvin) Arndt, Kennan, Agnes (Lyndon) Schancer, Hawkins, Carol (Mark) Koski, Marshfield, Rebecca (Dennis) Kempen, Kennan, and Shirley (Joe) Rades, Ham Lake, MN; and by one brother-in-law, Michael Lazar, Hawkins. His wife, Nancy, preceded him in death on November 26, 2009; by one son, Tim; and by one sister, Beverly Lazar.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice with Pastor Jonn Morrow of the New Hope Baptist Church of Kennan officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Inurnment will be in the Prentice Cemetery in Prentice.
