A native of Elizabeth City, NC, she was a retired food handler for Harris-Teeter. She was predeceased by her husband, David Lee Barnes; a daughter, Scarlet Calimer; and a granddaughter, Amber Kirby.
Survivors include a daughter, Melody McKinzie and her fiancé Socrates of Chesapeake; a granddaughter, Megan and husband Nick; and two great-grandchildren.
A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 2 5 PM at 2352 Jolliff Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23321.
