Lawrence H. "Larry" Russell, age 94, passed away on May 14, 2015 at Browning Masonic Assisted-Living Community in Waterville, OH. Larry was born to Ira Lawrence and Oberene Russell in Robinson, Illinois on July 12, 1920. He married Grace L. Goodsite of Toledo 72 years ago. After his service as a Staff Sergeant in the 498 Group, 875 Squadron of the 20th Air Force during WWII, Larry spent his career as a tool & die maker at DeVilbiss Company and Prestole Corporation. He served as an officer in numerous organizations he volunteered with including The Boy Scouts of America, Fall-Meyer School PTO, Travelers Motorcycle Club, the local EAA Chapter, and Asbury United Methodist Church. He and Grace also volunteered for many years at Sun 'N Fun in Lakeland, Florida and the Oshkosh (Wisconsin) Fly-In. Larry will be remembered as a life-long learner who loved to read books, a man of great humor, someone always ready to lend a helping hand, and someone who could repair all types of machinery and electronic equipment. None of his talents eclipsed his love for his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his two daughters, Nancy (Robert) Shaw and Sharon (Fred) Moor, three grandsons, six great-grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews. The family would like to express their profound thanks to the caring staff at Browning and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family will receive friends at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd, Waterville on Sunday, May 17th from 2-5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18th at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In honor of Larry's life, you may perform a random act of kindness to someone, or if you choose, a memorial tribute may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association
