Freda was the daughter of Eddie Wheeler Sr and Yvonne Kaigler Wheeler. She was educated in the Houston County School System and was a graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Georgia. She later attended Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins, Georgia where she studied Business Administration.
She was married to Harris McFadden Sr.
