John Grady Corbitt, 76, of Red Bud, IL, died June 20, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL.
He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Camden, TN, son of Meredith Smith and Ila Jane Wiseman Corbitt. He and Lois Anita Reed were married Sept. 8, 1949, at Charter Oak, MO.
Formerly of Benton, Corbitt was a 1949 graduate of Benton High School. He was a minister of non-denominational churches in Kansas, and then owned an oil field construction company in Flora, IL. He attended Hope Christian Church in Waterloo, IL.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Corbitt of Pacific, MO, Eric Corbitt of Pawnee Rock, KS; two daughters, Sandi Roper of Festus, MO, Kirsten Ober of The Woodlands, TX; a brother, Gretson Corbitt of Gerald, MO; three sisters, Katie Asbee of Kirkwood, MO, Brenda Dishinger of Warner Robins, GA, Ruth Koch of Arlington Heights, IL; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City Friday. A graveside service will be held Friday at Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, MO. The Rev. Richard Artis will officiate.
