Paul Monroe Roop, 57, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jewell Roop and Hazel Gill; and son, Sean Lee Nelson. His surviving family includes his wife of 35 years, Patsy Roop; brother, Anthony White and wife, Chasity; brothers-in-law, MacArthur Ringley and wife, Brenda, and Ricky Ringley and wife, Janet; sisters-in-law, Shirley Parker and Charlotte Arrington and husband, Joe; nephew and niece, Travis and Samantha White; special neighbors, Jeff, Ivonne, and Abigail Corekin; and beloved dog, Jello. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the funeral home's chapel with the Rev. Ralph Nester officiating. Interment will immediately follow at East Hill Cemetery.
