PEORIA - Sylvia Leilani (Nichols) Parker-Perry, formerly of Peoria, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla.She was born in Honolulu in 1955, while her parents were stationed there with the Navy, but grew up and lived most of her adult life in Peoria, Ill. She moved to Jacksonville in 1993 to be closer to her parents.Sylvia had been employed as the controller with Fletcher Medical Supplies since 1995. During the past 15 years, she also operated a tax preparation business, which she enjoyed immensely as it provided her the opportunity to help many people, including small-business owners. Sylvia had a big heart and was always willing to help a friend or family member in need and many times served as a sounding board and strong shoulder of support. Her great love for her children and special bond with her granddaughter, who called her Ganny, is an inspiration to all who knew her. Those closest to her will remember her passion for Pepsi, scratch off lottery tickets and family cookouts. Many great memories were created with family gatherings on the beach in Daytona. Her passing is a heartbreaking loss to her family and many friends.Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Willie D. Perry; daughter, Stephanie Kippers (Demiko); son, Jonathan Parker; two stepsons, Will Banks and Marcus Banks; stepdaughter, Angela Banks; granddaughter, Lexi; mother, Lois Jean Nichols; father, Jackie Lee Nichols (Leah); two sisters, Cynthia Jacobs (Bob) and Stacy James (Jesse); brother, Stephen Stumetz (Aileen); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dean (Albert) and Patricia Phillips (Major Sr.); and her very dear best friend, Theressa "T" Richeson.As per Sylvia's wishes to return to Hawaii one last time, her ashes will be spread over the ocean along Honolulu.
