Aged 51 years, 11 months. Sophia is buried beside him; they were married August 25, 1967. Lived in Oakland, CA. Interred February 6, 1888.

JOHN WESLEY STILL was born February 17, 1836, in New Market, Jefferson County, Tennessee; has been a real estate agent, and engaged in mercantile pursuits. Enlisted December 28, 1864, in the 8th California Infantry, and served as sergeant and as company and regimental clerk; was honorably discharged November 24, 1865, at San Francisco, California; was formerly a resident of Kansas, and in 1856 established at Baldwin city in that State "The Kansas Messenger"; went to Mexico in 1859, to Colorado in 1860, to Nevada in 1862, and in 1863 to California; since 1879 has resided in Washington Territory; was for four years justice of the peace at the county-seat of Spokane County, Washington Territory; was the founder of the town of Colville, in Stevens County, and was connected with the laying-out of the towns of Fairweather and Davenport, in Lincoln County, Washington. Comrade Still is a member of George Wright Post, G.A.R., of Cheney, Washington Territory, and at present a resident of Oakland, California.
