James Robert Long, 79, went to his heavenly reward Sunday, May 17, 2015. He died suddenly at his home.

He was born July 19, 1935, in Mineral Point. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1954 and then attended Eastern Pilgrim College, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Science in Bible degrees.

He married Jacqueline Rose Trimm on Jan. 26, 1957, in the Wynantskill Wesleyan Church.

Jim accepted Christ as his Savior in January 1954. Jim was ordained by the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Allentown, on June 20, 1961. He served churches in Trenton N.J., Mountain Top, Belgimtown, Bolinger, and the Summerville circuit of the United Methodist Church.

In addition to pastoring churches, Jim worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Welfare for 30 years, retiring in December of 1991.

He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville.

He is survived by two sons, James Robert Jr., of South Park and Darryl Jay (Sharon) of Glenshaw; four grandchildren: Tiffany Long, Kristin Long, Jason Long and Peter Long; two great-grandchildren; four sisters: Lois Orris, Lillian Wallace (Ronald), Mildred Monroe and Thomasine Houser (Nevin); and one brother, Theodore Long (Katye).

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Renee, on Sept. 9, 1959; his parents, Orville and Ruth Long; his brother Wayne Long; and brother-in-laws, Rev. Harry Orris and Kenneth Shaffer.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Road, Brookville, PA, 15825. Pastor Brian Smeal will officiate at the service. Interment will take place Friday, May 22, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1530 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA, 15902, beginning at 10 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Road, Brookville, PA, 15825.
