Lance Jay Walker passed away at the age of 44 on May 17, 2015 while living in Lyman, WY. He was born on June 12, 1970 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Robin Gay (Fillin) and the late Lenard Jay Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Walker; two daughters, Courtney and Chesney; his mom and stepdad, Robin (Carl) Johnston; his sister and brother-in-law, Sommer (Jeremy) Tysver and their twin sons, Ryker and Ridge Tysver; his grandmother, Bonnie Fillin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lance is preceded in death by his dad, Lenard Walker, his grandfather, Grant "Whitey" Walker, his grandmother, Dorothy Walker, his grandfather, Joseph Eugene "Gene" Fillin, and his aunt, Tanya Lee (Fillin) Maddox.

Lance attended Lyman High School where he earned two state champion titles in wrestling and later graduated in the spring of 1988. He then received his certification from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.

On June 24, 1995, he married his one true love, Janice. She loved to spend time with Lance no matter what he was up to. Even though they were complete opposites, they were more than perfect for each other. After two years, they decided to start a family. Courtney Raelynn Walker was born on July 18, 1997, with dark hair, blue eyes, and Lance’s nose; Courtney became the center of their lives. Two years later, they gave her a younger sister. Chesney Skye Walker was born on January 21, 2000, and she completed their family.

Lance enjoyed many hobbies with family and friends. His first passion was riding and racing his motorcycle. This was something that he did throughout his whole life. This journey began at the age of four when he got his first motorcycle. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. He shared his passion for hunting with his daughter Chesney. Lance also loved to spend time fishing with his daughter Courtney. He never did anything without the helping, loving, and supporting hand of his wife, Janice.

His kind heart and personality, so unlike any other, made it easy for anyone he met to feel an immediate connection.

Lance's Celebration of Life was conducted on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lyman High School Auditorium. A viewing was held Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., then again from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the services on Friday at the High School.

Lance’s family would like to thank everyone for the endless support that they have received during this difficult time.

If you knew Lance you are one of the lucky ones. He touched all of us, and we will never be the same. We are all better because of him. His smile and laugh will be forever missed but is engraved upon our hearts and minds. He was a legend on the mat, on a dirt bike, but, most importantly and where it counted most, he was a hero who loved and enjoyed every moment spent with his three precious girls--his wife and two daughters. Family and friends were a treasure to Lance, and he treated them as such. We grieve that his time was short but know his loved ones, especially his father, was ecstatic to hold his son again. Our hearts and prayers are with his wife and daughters, his mother and sister, and all of his family and friends who are deeply saddened by the loss of his short, but full, life. Jason* will forever ride in honor of Lance and will carry his memory with him. Thanks Lance for just being you!

*Jason Harris wore a special shirt, "In Memory of LANCE WALKER", while riding his dirt bike, and on Thursday night, May 21, 2015, at Rocky Mountain Raceway, they read a tribute to Lance and had a moment of silence. Several dads of these mini riders rode with Lance. It was very touching. Jason rode that night in honor of Lance and will as long as he races. He idolized Lance; Lance would kneel down to get at his level and then give him tips and advice that Jason could understand. Jason is honored to be riding with many others in the procession after Lance's services to honor him. Many others joined Jason in riding their bikes on Friday, May 22, 2015, in the procession from Lyman High School after the service to the Lyman Cemetery.
