He was a native of the North River Community of Beaufort and formerly employed as a commercial fisherman.
His funeral is 12:00 PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Mt. Tabor M. B. Church with the Rev. Hubert Judon, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Tabor M. B. Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy M. Woods of Beaufort; father, Elvin Smith of Cleveland, OH; two daughters, Jennifer Murrell of Greensboro, NC and Tashia Murrell of New Bern; two brothers, Eddie Murrell of Beaufort and Brenton Woods of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Lana Murrell of Beaufort, Natlie Blakley of Milwaukee, WI and Tysheena Wilson of Greenville, NC; four grandchildren.
