Army Spc. Jones was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, Baumholder, Germany. Jones was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Ar Ramadi. Bobby graduated from Rex Putnam High School and joined the military because he wanted to serve his country and get money for college. This was his second tour in Iraq and he was suppose to be there for only four weeks to give other soldiers a break, then return to Germany or Kuwait. Bobby is remembered as quite a joker with a compassionate side. During his first stint in Iraq his candor and practical jokes were well known. If you slept next to him, you could expect to come back to your rack and find everything you had turned upside down. But it was during his second trip to Iraq that a more serious side to Bobby was seen. He bought his mother a computer so she could communicate with him overseas. He had seen enough of Iraq and was not enthusiastic about returning. War wasn't fun and games and Bobby made it a point to set the new soldiers straight. He sent his dad a letter for Father's Day telling him how much he loved him and he was sorry it wasn't a card, but he couldn't find one. One day after his Father's Day letter arrived home, Bobby was killed.
