Sophia married her Uncle Ira Parlin's brother-in-law, Daniel Houghton on April 12, 1849. Daniel died in 1856 leaving her, at age 26, with three small children, Florence, Joseph and Josephine. Sophia then married her cousin, Vincent Gould on February 28, 1857, making her Uncle Ira not only the brother-in-law of her first husband but now her father-in-law. Vincent Gould and Sophia had 5 children, 3 of whom tragically died before age 7. Vincent and Sophia's only surviving children were Abel Ezra and George Otis. Vincent died when Sophia was 41 so she lived the rest of her life on her farm in Weld, Maine with her daughter and son-in-law Josephine and their children. She died there at age age 79.
