Melinda Ann Hardin Crawford is wife of William H. Crawford, marrying him in 1798, and she the daughter of William and Winifred Holtsclaw Hardin. Her father was called "Big Bill" and "Indian Bill". ----- her husband William H. Crawford (1771-1845) removed to Littleton, Schuyler County, Illinois., About 1840, with his son Wm Jr and his Thompson in-laws and is buried there. ~~~ Several years after marrying his daughter, fort Hardin founder Wm Hardin deeded to his daughter and new son-in-law William Crawford 660 acres on Hardin's Creek at Hardinsburg. I presume this was land surrounding (possibly including?) the fort. ~~~ I remember in the 1990s how cousin C.W. Moad told how his mother, Nellie Ricketts Moad, had told him that they were blood related from the Hardins and the Crawfords.
