Mr. Stubbs had been employed by Reichold Chemical, Playtex and worked as a laboratory technician for the City of Dover. He later retired from DNREC where he had worked as an environmental technician for over 25 years.
Mr. Stubbs was active in leadership roles for several civic organizations. He served as an administrator and Governor for the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge. He was also active with the Bingo program. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Mamie A. Warren Senior Center in Smyrna, serving as president from 2007 to 2010. He was a member of the NRA and the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and crabbing. He was a proud Army veteran.
Mr. Stubbs was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Stubbs, his son Robert E. Stubbs, Jr. his parents Evelyn (Gooden) Stubbs and James Norman Stubbs and his brother James Norman Stubbs, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Debra Brown and her fiancé William Brittingham of Smyrna and Cathy Ritter Zupan and her husband Frank of Magnolia; three sisters: Phyllis Tarburton of Dover, Darlene Zlock and her husband Carl of Dover and Lydia Tucker and her husband Jim of Hartly; five grandchildren: Tina Small, Christopher Brown, Matthew Ritter, Nicole Johnson and Michael Ritter; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mamie A. Warren Senior Center, 1775 Wheatley’s Pond Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
