Montrose,Colo-- David L."Dave" Minton,Sr. 65,died Sunday, Oct.22,2006 at his home in Montrose, Colo.
He was born April 20,1941 to William Minton and Loretta Ridgway Minton Glassco at Dodge City,KS. He married Kathleen M."Kathy" Schneweis on Dec. 27,1962 at Dodge City,KS. She survives.
He spent his childhood in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School.He then attended college for two years.
He and his wife lived in Barstow, Calif. from 1963 to 1982 where he worked at the Barstow Hayward Lumber,was on the police reserves and was involved in the Little League. He moved with his family to Apple Valley,Calif where he made his home from 1983 to 1995 as he worked as a self-employed contractor. In 1995 he moved to Montrose where he built his home. He worked at Burkhart's Lumber and Anciano Towers as the Maintenance Tech until he retired in 2004.
He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He also loved tools, remodeling houses,fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home, two sons, David Minton,Jr. and James Minton both of Montrose; daughter, Debi and husband Dan Row of Apple Valley, Calif; step-father, Charles Glassco of Dodge City,Ks; sisters, Darlene Burge of Dodge City and Jeannie Ridge of Barstow,Calif. and one half-sister, Cheryl Alexander of Dodge City,Ks; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill and Jerry Minton and son Chris Michael Minton.
A funeral mass was held on Oct.26,2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose,Colo with committal burialat Valley Lawn Demetery with military graveside rites.
