She went home to be with her Lord God May 5, 2015.

Upon graduation she became employed by the U.S. Department of the Army on Fort Huachuca, Ariz., where she retired after 36 years of service.
This is where she met the love of her life and husband, Joseph “Big Joe” Rivera, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2006. They were married April 4, 1959. They had three loving children together and a very happy and extensive family.

Along with her children, Esther is also survived by four siblings and one prima hermana, Alice Parra of San Pedro, Calif., Rose Valencia of Douglas, Antonio Carbijal of Tucson, Dionicia “Duty” Castillo of San Manuel, Ariz., and Gloria Dabovich of Bisbee. Esther was a loving grandmother of nine grandchildren, great-grandmother of four, and “Mom” to many … you all know who you are.

Her funeral is set at the same church for the following morning, May 15, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. From there Esther will be taken and laid to rest next to her husband Joseph at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lowell.
