DECATUR - Bettie Sue Carter, 86, of Decatur died Thursday, May 27, 2010, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Carter was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Springfield, the daughter of Allen and Susan (Schneider) Franz.

She married Raymond Musson; he preceded her in death on April 17, 1961.

She then married Albert Carter on June 2, 1962, at Westside Christian Church in Springfield.

Mrs. Carter was a member of Central Christian Church, a volunteer for the Decatur Memorial Hospital thrift shop and an avid golfer.

She is survived by her husband, Albert of Decatur; sons; brother, Gene Franz of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marc Carter; a brother, Henry Franz; and a grandson, Kyle Carter.
