Jesse C. Garrett, 70 years old, died at his home in Ennis and burial was in Myrtle Cemetery. Mr. Garret was born in Kaufman County, May 14, 1864. Surviving are his wife and 4 children, John W. Garrett of Ennis, Charlie Garrett of Crandall, Marion Garrett of Seagoville, and Mrs. Johnnie Claxton of Ennis, also nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jesse was born to Willliam C. Garrett (1834-1884) and Caroline Garrett (1834-?). Jesse had been married twice. He and his first wife, Rebecca Hurley, had 2 children: Lula Garrett (Tippett) and John Wesley Garrett. After Rebecca's death, he married Martha Frances "Fannie" Wyatt. They had 7 children: Ida Garrett, Charley Garrett, Ersell Garrett, Carmen Garrett, Marion Francis Garrett, Lela Bell Garrett (Claxton), Pauline Garrett.
