It is said, that the Nippissing Amerindian name of "Jeanne" was: "Gisis Bahmahmaadjimiwin".

Called, "Jeanne" by her husband, Jean Nicolet (albeit unmarried, per church and European standards of the day). She was from the Nipissing tribe, an aboriginal American Indian. She mothered a daughter by Nicolet, Madeleine Euphrosine Nicolet (~1628-1689), named after (it seems), for a sister of her father, Euphrosine Madeleine Nicolet.
