Dan attended North Thurston High School, diesel driving school, Brigham Young University-Idaho, and South Puget Sound Community College. He was a truck driver from 1992 to 2002, and a Registered Nursing Assistant from 2006 to 2008.
Dan had a great sense of humor and was well liked by everyone. He loved spending time with his family, going to church, and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Joe (Earles) Gifford; sons, Wesley (18), William (16), Dale (11), Luke (8); daughters, Hollie Whatley (20) of Oregon, Shelbie (15), and Nikki (13); parents, Donna and Wendel Gifford; brothers, Richard Gifford of Olympia, and Ken Gifford of Colorado; sisters, Wendy Massey of Tacoma, and Melinda Wilson of Olympia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Denzel and Irene Gifford; uncle, Clarence A. Gifford; aunt, Noreen Dieter; cousin, Cynthia Harline; and brother-in-law, Robert Crapo.
