He was a native and life-long resident of Savannah before moving to Brooklet 14 years ago.
Mr. Hodges served in the U.S. Navy before starting a life-long career with International Paper (Union Camp) in Savannah. While living in Savannah, he was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Temple and after moving to Brooklet, he started attending First Baptist Church of Statesboro. After 44 years of service with Union Camp as a boilermaker, he retired and spent time traveling, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Daniel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Frances Hodges; and brothers, Richard and Ben Hodges.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
The family will received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Guyton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
