Maxwell Leon Smith, age 61, of Church Hill passed away Tuesday, may 12, 2015 at the Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center following an extended illness.

Leon was born in Kingsport and was a lifelong resident of Church Hill. He retired from the Quebecor Company in 1999 with 31 years of service. He attended the North Fork Baptist Church, and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Nelson R. Smith and Bernice Dykes Smith, a nephew; Kevin Jayne.

Survivors include his son; Christopher Brian Smith and wife, Amber of Church Hill, Grandchildren; Hayden Smith and April McClellan, Sister; Wanda Jayne and husband, Clyde of Church Hill, and his special niece; Amy Jayne of Church Hill.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home, and anytime at the residence of his sister Wanda Jayne.

Funeral services will be conducted 7 pm Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Alan Payne officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 1 pm Friday at the Christians Bend Cemetery. Family and friends that wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 pm Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Terry Seiber, Richard Smith, Jarred Skelton, Gary Skelton, Jack Shepherd, Duane Ward, John Shepherd, Vernon Caldwell and Harold Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Delmar Mowell, Terry Hunley and Hayden Smith.
