J J Allen, Senior Mason, Dies at 84

Allendale, SC - Joseph Judson Allen, 84, died Saturday night in an Allendale hospital.

The funeral will be 4 pm Monday in the First Baptist Church of Allendale. Burial will be in the Mount Arnon Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr Allen, a retired hardware dealer, was owner and operator of Allen's Hardware Company for 40 years. He was born in Dillon County, a son of the late DAvid and Amanda Fore Allen. Mr Allen was a member of Masonic Lodge 109 of Allendale, where he was a past master. He became a Mason 63 years ago in the Mackey Masonic Lodge 77 in Dillon.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Allendale where he served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent. He was first married to the late Anna Belle Stanton Allen.

Surviving are his Widow, Mrs Bertha Barker Allen; four daughters, Mrs Gordon C Hoffman of Fairborn, Ohio, Mrs Langdon E Dunn of Mullins, Mrs Charles Hampton Brandenburg of St Matthews and Mrs William Jerome Colvin of Holly Hi8ll; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
