HIGGINSVILE -- The funeral of John Helt, Sr., was held from the Lutheran Church at Churchville Monday. Mr. Helt had a paralytic shock a few years ago, which incapacitated him for active work. Early in the summer he fell sustaining injuries from which he had been a great sufferer to the time of his death. In politics he was a staunch Republican and in religious belief a Lutheran. He was born in Bechepheim, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, June 24, 1826 and came to this country in 1844. In 1866 he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Frey, who with the following children survive; John, Charles and George of this place; Mrs. William Sipp of Greenway, Mrs. A. Andes and Mrs. F. Andes of Utica, and Mrs., F. J. Smith of Herkimer. Mr. Helt was highly respected by all his acquaintances. Since coming to this country he had spent nearly all his years in this vicinity. The family have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
