Funeral services for Robert E. Lee of Perry will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services in Cordele. The committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Perry Memorial Gardens in Perry. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lee, 89 and a former long-time resident of Cordele, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Perry Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Syble Burrell Lee and three brothers and seven sisters. He was born in Pulaski County and was the son of the late William J. Lee and Martha Dell Watson Lee. A United States Army veteran of WWII, he was retired from Harris Group where he worked as a shift supervisor of the welding department and was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and an avid fisherman and billiard player. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 19 years, Alleene Lee of Perry; two children and their spouses, Bob and Gail Lee and Cathy and Al Wilkerson, all of Cordele; two step-children, Jim Brown and his wife, Doris of Bonaire and Carolyn Rogers of Pineview; four grandchildren and their spouses, Dana and Baskin Bembry and Janna and Dewayne Greathouse, all of Perry, Kenneth and Carie Wilkerson of Cordele and Becky and George Smith of Tifton; nine great-grandchildren, Devan Caulder, Dalton Caulder, Derrien Bembry, Olivia Greathouse, Callee Greathouse, Ethan Greathouse, Reagan Wilkerson, Brianna Wilkerson and Allie Smith; and four step-grandchilren.
