He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974. Randy worked for the City of Fitchburg Water Department from July 1, 1969 until his retirement on Feb. 7, 2005. He was a member of the Oregon Masonic Lodge No. 151 F & A.M., American Legion Post No. 487 in Cable, WI and was a union steward for the Teamster's Local No. 695 in Madison. Randy loved volunteering at the VFW Post No. 7591 omelet breakfasts, fishing and picking blueberries near his cabin in Canada and spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin.
Randy is survived by his wife, Janey; brother, Mark (Ginny) Owens; sisters, Julie (Peter) Amakobe and Becky (Raffi) Mesdjian; brothers-in-law, Herbert (Elaine) Miller, Donnie (Betty) Miller and Buddy Miller; his aunt, Mary Owens; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Joyce Owens.
Randy was an astounding person and made friends wherever he went. Everyone who met Randy loved Randy. He fought a courageous battle against cancer in his last few months; eventually, as he said, "accepting the cards dealt to him."
Randy we will see you in heaven.
