The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
Vernon Jerome Green was born June 29, 1940, to Elmer and Rosemary (Feldpausch) Green in rural Grand Mound, Iowa. He was a graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic High School in DeWitt.
Vernon was united in marriage to Darlene "Peggy" Albers on August 12, 1961, at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The couple resided in DeWitt until 2011. Vernon worked for J.I. Case in Bettendorf until retirement. Peggy preceded him in death on April 10, 2013.
Vernon was a longtime member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, and collecting miniature farm equipment.
Vernon is survived by sons and daughters-in-laws, Mark and Martha Green of Andalusia, Illinois, and David and Kelly Green of Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Logan, Kaitlyn and Sidney; a sister-in-law, Sue Green; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Peggy, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Leroy and Richard.
