Steve was the son of Ray Bryant and Nell Bryant; the grandson of Henry Grady Bryant and Johnny Flora Smith Bryant.

NORTHPORT | Steve Allen Bryant, Sr., age 66, of Northport, died May 13, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Bryant and Nell Bobo Bryant of Fayette, Ala.; and his grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Taylor Bryant; sons, Steve Allen Bryant, Jr. (Angel) and Martin Russell Bryant (Krystle) all of Northport; sisters, Beth Gilpin (Van), Sherry Hall, Wanda Chambless (Ted) of Fayette, Donnis Dobbs (Frank) of Greensboro, and Linda Smith (Larry) of Hayden, Ala.; brother, Thomas Ray Bryant (Annette) of Berry, Ala.; mother-in-law, Joyce Taylor; grandchildren, Emileigh Bryant, Jessica Bryant, Katie Grace Bryant, Sawyer Bryant, Chelsie Hubbard and Caeson Hubbard.

Steve, a longtime resident of Northport, was born and raised in Fayette, Ala., graduating from Fayette County High School in 1967. Steve served in the United States Army. He worked for many years in the gas and oil field industry, where over the years he was a member and officer of the Black Warrior Chapter API, serving as President 2011-2012. Steve was employed by Eastern Fishing and Rental Tools. He was a loving husband for 43 years, a devoted father to his sons, and the greatest "Poppy" his grandchildren could possibly have. He had many friends, and once you became his friend, he kept you for life. Steve's smile was ever present even when faced with illness, which he faced with courage and grace.

Pallbearers will be Todd Hall, Yancy Hall, Seth Hall, Cody Chambless, Terrell Stripling and Joe Traweak.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Black Warrior Chapter API, Nick Welch and employees of Eastern, Eric Hutchens and family, Steve Smith, special neighbors Jimmy and Judy Bendall, Dexter and Nita Beams, Charles and Quilla Humber, nurse and staff 3rd floor MICU at DCH Regional Medical Center, Doctors John Miller and David Hinton, special thanks to Marty Day, Jimmy and Shelby Foxhall, Alfred and Kathy Taylor, members of the Cody Hunting Club and Cody Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to one's favorite charity in honor of Steve.
