Harold C. Hess Sr., age 80, of Clear Ridge, PA passed away May 13, 2015 at home with his family by his side. He was born September 14, 1934 in Clear Ridge, PA, the son of the late William and Gladys (Harshberger) Hess. He was married to Donna Jean Ross Hess on November 21, 1956. Carl was self employed farmer, living on the family farm all his life. He also was a woodsman, dealing in timber and paperwood. He was a member of the American Legion Post 561, FOVA 655 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Harrisonville, PA.
Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Jean Hess of Hustontown, PA, four children, Gladys (wife of Richard) Lesher of Chambersburg, PA, Christine McQuade of McConnellsburg, PA, Melissa (wife of Frank) DeShong of Harrisonville, PA and Harold C. "Carl" (husband of Candace) Hess Jr. of Clear Ridge, PA, 12 Grandchildren (Melissa, Jennifer, Timothy, Katherine, Matthew, Courtney, Frankie, Zachary, Billy, Josh, Jessica, Noah) and 11 great grandchildren (Samantha, Malorie, Payton, Danielle, Madison, Ben, Makayla, Cameron, Ezekiel, Adalynn, Blaine).
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Hess, two siblings, Hazel Rhiehart and David Hess and one grandson Ryan McQuade.
Funeral services will be held 11:00, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, PA. An evening of visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Clear Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Wade officiating. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
