A longtime resident of Thompson St on Elmira's Southside passed away peacefully Fri. May 8, 2015 at home in his recliner following declining health at the age of 76. Born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Elmira, Rich was the son of the late, George & Helen Zepp Lumbard.
He served his country in the US Navy. Rich was employed by NYSEG as a lineman for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed caring for his home, yard work, and collecting model railroads.
Surviving is his loving family, sons, Todd (Barbie) Lumbard, and Scott (Amy) Lumbard; four grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Patrick and Alyssa; brother-in-law, Glenn Cooper; companion and friend of 30 years, Linda Getola and her family, Chris (Jeanna) Getola, Brian (Michelle) Getola, and Donald (Jill) Getola; Madeline, Anneliese, and Loretta; nieces, nephews and wonderful neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by his sisters, Lois Cooper and Betty Devore.
In honor of his wishes all services will remain private and his ashes will be interred in the columbarium wall at Woodlawn National Cemetery.
