Whitehall - Jeanne H. Simmons, 96, formerly of Whitehall, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Granville.

Born July 22, 1918, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Rena (LaPann) Rainville.

In her early years, she was a speed skater and won many trophies and ribbons.

She lived most of her life in the Glens Falls area and worked as a bookkeeper for many area business.

She and her husband enjoyed spending the winter in Florida. She was a member of Whitehall Senior Citizens and enjoyed the hobby club.

When living in Glens Falls, she was a member of the St. Alphonsus Church and was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church of Whitehall.

She is predeceased by her husband, John Simmons; a grandson, Andrew Sewell; a son, Daniel “Dan” Sewell; and two brothers, Kent Rainville and Richard Rainville.

Arrangements by the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Our Lady of Hope Church at 9 Wheeler Ave., Whitehall, New York.

Interment will be at 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in West Glens Falls.
