Katherine was married to the late Willie V. Swift, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1981. She worked in various fields but her most rewarding was her career as a CNA. She loved helping those in need. In 1986 she re-dedicated her life to the Lord in baptism at East Jackson Church of Christ where she was a faithful member.
Once her health declined, she was not able to attend regularly but still enjoyed visits, calls, and cards from her church family. She loved to pray and sing and was singing up until the hour she departed this Earth.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her sons, Willie, Jr.(Justine),George(Kathaleen), and James Ivory.
She is survived by four loving daughters, Alma Swift Bowman, Gary, Indiana; Marjorie Ann Oxford, Bellevue, Nebraska; Mary Francis Swift, Washington, D.C.; and Pauline Swift Steele, Jackson, TN. Katherine also leaves what was the pride and joy of her life, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Sis. Swift is survived by seven of her sisters and brothers: Rozena Donnell (her faithful caregiver and constant companion), Jackson, TN; Carrie Wyatt, Chicago, IL; Alice Mays, Jackson, TN; Mable Jackson, Chicago, IL; Robert Beard, Moreno Valley, CA; Eddie Beard, Chicago, IL; and Virtus Beard (Shirley) Chicago, IL; Sis. Swift also leaves a devoted goddaughter Thelma Taylor, Jackson, TN and dear friend Albert Norman, Bellevue, NE and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
